Partnership with parents

Day care benefits children most if there is a strong partnership with parents and carers.
Parents are always welcome. We encourage involvement and parents often help with outings, story time, or come in to talk about a hobby or play a musical instrument.

Each child has a key worker who observes and records what happens each day. Parents can ask for feedback and anecdotes at the end of the day, or contact us any time..

We have a parents’ evening each term as well as fun events like our sports day and Christmas nativity to which you will be invited.

Monthly newsletters keep parents up to date with our activities and nursery news. Alongside this you will also receive an Yearly Profile and report in the form of an annual scrap book with an outline of what your child has achieved over the last year, copies of photos of your child in their setting and of course all of their original art work for you to treasure for years to come.

Ofsted said:” Staff observe children regularly to see what they are able to do and use this information well to consistently monitor children’s progress in relation to their starting points. Staff gather information about what children can do prior to starting, using ‘All about me’ forms. In addition, they regularly ask parents for updates on what they see their children doing at home. This means that staff are able to plan for the next steps in children’s learning and development, supporting their ongoing interests. Neat, informative learning journals, which also contain examples of children’s work and photographs, allow parents to keep up to date with how their children are doing and to support their children at home. Consequently, children are making consistent progress in relation to their starting points and are ready for the next stage in their learning and development.”

Partner agencies you may have contact with

Sarah Doyle is our Early Years Consultant. She conducts an annual review which is done with the same thoroughness as Ofsted, to ensure that we are maintaining our standards and making more improvements. We receive a detailed action plan from each of these visits that goes into our Action Plan.

Jane Smith is our Area Senco. SENCO stands for Special Educational Needs Consultant. Jane’s role is not to work with your child, but rather is to support the staff team to support any children who have additional needs. More information about how Special Needs are identified can be found in our Special Needs Policy available at your request. If there was a time when we felt that your child would benefit from some additional support with Jane, then we would only proceed if you were informed and happy for this to go ahead.

Santa Nyeko is our Senior Pre-School Development Worker. Her role is to carry out a Welfare Audit which is to ensure that our setting is meeting relevant Safe Guarding standards. She visits the setting once a year and we receive a detailed action plan from this.
