Mission, vision and values

Mission and values

What do we stand for?

Our mission:

The mission of YMCA West London is founded on our committment to our Christian faith, values and ethos. We aspire to be an inclusive Christian movement working with young people and their communities to inspire, enable and empower them to belong, contribute and thrive.

Our vision:

We are committed to the development of young people in mind, body and spirit through training and education, advice and skill development. We will do this by providing and commissioning services and activities that support young people to be the best that they can be.

Our values:

Inspiring, inclusive relationships.

Our ethos:

Prayer, people, passion.

We never give up on young people

No matter how challenging it is to engage with a young person, we don’t stop trying. We carry on showing them we care.

We believe in every young person

Each young person has potential, regardless of who they are, what they’ve been through or what path they’ve taken in the past.

We stand up and speak out

We raise awareness of young people in need, about the issues that affect their lives. We also help them find their own voices.

We are inclusive

Our Christian values form the basis for everything we do. But we welcome people from all faiths and none.

Our actions

We persistently listen to young people with compassion and without judgement.

We run sport and exercise sessions, discussions, workshops, talks, residents forums, after-school clubs and activity classes.

We find opportunities in education, training and employment, and we encourage our young people to take them.

We invite young people to volunteer with us to get the work experience they need, and we employ them where possible.

We spread awareness of youth homelessness through fundraising events, media and conferences.

We provide safe and secure housing for periods of up to two years.
