Celebrating our new Chaplain

On 2 November we launched Reverend Suzanne Vernon-Yorke’s chaplaincy. Rt. Reverend Pete Broadbent, Acting Bishop of London and our President, licensed Suzanne in a celebratory service in Y Lounge Café.

Board members, residents and customers joined in welcoming her.

She said, “It has been my absolute privilege to serve as Chaplain to YMCA West London since the end of September and to have my official launch on the 2nd November. It is my job to love and care for staff, residents and users of our other services, like our nursery, Jumpers!, and Y Active classes. I have met residents struggling to get their lives on track under some difficult circumstances, with the support of our housing officers.

Our staff are amongst the hardest working, committed people I have had the pleasure of meeting. There are so many people working and fundraising behind the scenes as well as in direct services, to help young people to transform their lives.

I will be aiming to recruit volunteers from local communities and churches to be part of our Chaplaincy Team, so that we can better care for residents and staff across all eight of our projects. We believe in valuing people and enabling them to flourish!
