Why should YOU support us?

Each and every night we house more than 450 vulnerable young people. Your support can make a real difference to young people who have no one else to turn to.

A problem you should know about:

  • In London there was a 43% rise in recorded rough sleeping over the last year.* But statistics do not include the majority of homeless young people who spend night after night on friends’ sofas or nightbuses.
  • 957,000 young people aged 16-24 are unemployed – that’s one in five.**

Amazing things happen at your YMCA:

  • £20 gives cups of tea and a week of welcoming hot dinners to a young rough sleeper who may not have eaten proper food for days.
  • £30 offers a toothbrush and soap, clean socks and a warm jumper to a young person arriving with just what they’ve worn for the past week.
  • £40 pays for a young person to travel to a week’s training course.
  • £60 hands a young person a starter bag with what they need to start living in their own place – it could be a kettle, a duvet cover, a towel.
  • £150 opens the door of warm room with a bed, with a trained support worker and computer facilities to a young person with no home and no job.
