Apprenticeship Track

Being an apprentice gives you the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification and develop professional skills, while earning a salary. An Apprenticeship lasts for a minimum of 12 months and offers a combination of Accredited training and paid work-experience.

YMCA West London’s Apprenticeship Track provides a career pathway into the front-line services that we deliver. Currently our apprenticeships include:

  • Childcareapprenticeships
  • Youth work
  • Catering
  • Restaurant Front of House

In future years we hope to offer apprenticeships in Housing as well.

We recognise and respect that people are individuals and will positively contribute to this by including a Mentoring Programme that runs alongside the formal training and Line Management support you will receive.

What is included in the placement?

Duration of the apprenticeship/traineeship

When the apprenticeship finishes: what’s next?
As an Apprentice placement nears its end, if the Apprentice decides to pursue a career in their chosen role, they will be offered some assistance in applying for jobs and interview preparation from their Mentor, or through YMCA West London’s Job clubs.

There is, however, no guarantee of a paid job after the completion of the apprenticeship/traineeship.

What if YMCA West London doesn’t run an apprenticeship that I am interested in?

If we don’t offer an Apprenticeship that you want, then there is bound to be someone who does. Visit www.apprenticeships.gov.uk to find out about more opportunities in the local area.
